Dolomites Hike 1
In the Brenta you can easy walk from hut to hut along spectacular routes:
the Vie Ferrate.
The Brenta in the western Dolomites is a classical mountain massif for Vie Ferrate, marked routes
on steep walls that are protected by cables of steel and
scales. The area is part of the natural Park Adamello - Brenta. There may
be some snow, so it is wise to take a pickel with you.
After a walk in the Adamello (with nice views on the Brenta) we took a rest at
Madonna di Campiglio and went for a tour in the Brenta. In the central
part are a lot of beautiful huts, often not so far from each other (2 -
4 hours). Via the Rifugio Vallesinella a route goes to the famousTuckett
Hut (19th century). Because of the clouds we took the Sentiero Orsi to
the Rifugio Pedrotti, and not the higher route of the Cima Brenta.
>The next part was the Sentiero Brochette Centrale, with magnificent views and
steep passages near vertical walls (with cables and ladders). The Rifugio
Alimonta is situated on a plateau with good views.
The last route is the Sentiero Detassis and Sentiero Sosat, back to the Tuckett
hut. On a sharp snow crest we used a rope for (psychological) safety. Then
we trained for firemen: many climbs along high ladders.
We made the last day a 250 m wall-climbing to the Catelletto Inferieur. Technical
not difficult (third degree) but not easy to find the correct route in
the wall, and the many little stones are a real danger. The decent was
at the backside, beginning with 'abseilen'.
